Learn how to create a job in DepoScribe.ai.

Important details about creating a job

Job Name

The job name is the primary identifier used in DepoScribe, so be sure to use an identifiable name.

Event Type

The event type you choose will determine the capabilities of the transcript that is generated by DepoScribe.

Deposition

The Deposition event type will allow you to specify certain speaker types like the Witness, Reporter, Questioning Attorney, and more. Depositions use our deposition specific templates, and allow for Q&A and Colloquy formatting.

Hearing/Trial

The Hearing/Trial event type will allow you to specify speakers like the Witness, Questioning Attorney, Judge, Bailiff, and more. This type uses our trial specific templates, supports Q&A and Colloquy formatting, and also allows for multiple witnesses to be identified.

General Meeting

The General Meeting type is meant to be used for other generic transcriptions like EUOs, Arbitrations, Mediations, City Council Meetings, and more. This type will output only Colloquy, and only allows for the participant speaker type.

Case

The case information you provide allows for re-use of the case. The Court Location you select will determine the jurisdictional formatting used by DepoScribe. For instance, the Federal location will ensure you get Federal formatting.

Audio files

When uploading audio files, it is important that you are either uploading a single file with all of the speakers on it, or multiple files with individual speakers.

If you have multiple files that need to be played one after another to make up the entire recording, those files need to be merged using DepoScribe's Audio Tools prior to being run through DepoScribe.

Speaker assignment

When assigning speakers, it is important to choose the correct role for the person speaking. If you don't properly set speakers as attorneys or witnesses, the automatic Q&A detection may not work correctly.

When you see the list of snippets for a speaker, there are occasions where you may see multiple people lumped together. Speech-to-text systems cannot always properly separate speakers, so you should choose the person that speaks the most. With DepoScribe, you are able to re-do these speaker assignments if you find there is a better selection after downloading the Word file.

Questioning attorney changes

Q&A detection runs off of who the questioning attorney is at any given time in the transcript. The speaker identified as the Questioning Attorney will automatically be marked as the first questioning attorney, and you can specify the timestamp in the audio file where the questioning attorney changes by entering that time and choosing the new attorney to take over.

If you don't know the times of those changes up front, you can download the Word file, scan through it, and identify where the changes took place. Then you can re-enter those times in DepoScribe to get a new Word doc that has uses those changes to generate Q&A.
